Metro Vermont BRT Corridor Technical Study

Los Angeles County, California

Gruen Associates was the site planner, station area planner and urban designer on a multi-disciplinary team exploring the potential for the feasibility for BRT along the Vermont Corridor. The Vermont Corridor extends approximately 12.5 miles from Hollywood Boulevard south to 120th Street, and is the second busiest bus corridor in Los Angeles County with over 45,000 daily boardings. The technical study identified promising alternatives for incorporating BRT with dedicated bus lanes where possible as well as other BRT elements such as enhanced stations, off-bus fare collection, streetscape enhancements and operational enhancements. A future BRT on this corridor will provide time savings for passengers, important connections to several rail lines including the Metro Red, Purple, Exposition and Green Lines, as well as many other local bus and rapid east/west lines.
