Centerline Urban Rail Corridor Projects

Fullerton and Costa Mesa, California

Orange County’s goal was to stimulate development in its under utilized urban corridors being connected by the planned CenterLine Light Rail Line. Various master plan and station design concepts were developed using smart growth design principles. The City of Fullerton project included a transit-oriented, mixed-use development combining a light rail station, high-density housing, neighborhood retail and offices around and existing transportation center. The proposed elevated rail station will be linked by a bridge with the transportation center an a network of open spaces. The City of Costa Mesa South Coast Plaza Station project calls for development of a multiuse Transit Village on an 80 acre site to include and entertainment center, office and retail space focused on pedestrian streets. Also planned are 2,000 housing units, a series of open spaces and a five-acre park.
