Los Angeles Trade Tech College South Campus*

Gruen Associates was the Executive Architect/Landscape Design Architect with MDA Johnson Favaro as the Design Architect for the new 528,160-GSF South Campus. The two five-story academic buildings define a new entrance to one of Los Angeles’ oldest community college campuses. Meeting the campus’ expanded educational mission, a student service facility, administrative and staff offices, classrooms and two sloping-floor lecture halls equipped with state-of-the-art instructional technology as well as computer terminals create a cutting-edge technologically-advanced environment. Gruen and the Designer also collaborated on site development for the LEED Gold certified project. Through a future contract, Gruen’s in-house architects and landscape architects continued work addressed in the South Campus project, providing solutions for improved pedestrian flow and streetscapes, creative landscape architectural enhancements along Grand Avenue and 23rd Street, and a new gateway with signage.
