The 20th Area Police Station in Los Angeles, California was rewarded a Community Impact Award by the Los Angeles Business Council. The proejct has also been selected by the AIA Committee on Architecture for Justice for inclusion in the 2005-2006 Justice Facilities Review and was honored with a 2004 Excellence in Design award from the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department. |

Gruen Associates prepared the San Fernando Valley East-West Transit Corridor Major Investment Study and Environmental Impact Report for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority. As part of this assignment, Gruen Associates prepared the conceptual design for the entire 14-mile Bus Rapid Transit Corridor, bike path, and pedestrian linkages (now called the Metro Orange Line). The project won a 2007 American Institute of Architects Transportation Award, 2006 California Transportation Foundation Tranny Award for Transit Excellence, 2003 Rail-Trail Design Recognition Award, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and ASLA, and 2000 APA Focused Issue Planning Award, Los Angeles Section. The Metro Orange Line's Grand Opening was in October 2005 |

Los Angeles Chapter 25 Year Award |
| In November 2003, Gruen Associates was awarded the AIA Los Angeles Chapter 25-year award for the landmark Pacific Design Center. The world famous "Blue Whale" is the home of the contract and residential furnishing industry in Los Angeles. This award is given annually to commemorate projects that, by the quality of the design, have made an important contribution to the architectural landscape. Ki Suh Park, FAIA, FAICP, Gruen Associates Managing and Design Partner, Cesar Pelli, FAIA, former Gruen Associates Partner, and Charles Cohen, the present Owner of PDC accepted the award at the AIA Awards Gala. |
