The Mid-City/Exposition Corridor Light Rail Transmit Project was honored with a 2008 Merit Award in Urban Design by the California Council of the American Institute of Architects.

The 20th Area Police Station in Los Angeles, California was rewarded a Community Impact Award by the Los Angeles Business Council. The proejct has also been selected by the AIA Committee on Architecture for Justice for inclusion in the 2005-2006 Justice Facilities Review and was honored with a 2004 Excellence in Design award from the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department.

The Pacific Design Center Phase 3 "Red Building" was honored with a 2008 Un-built Commercial Building Award by the Los Angeles Business Council.

Gruen Associates prepared the San Fernando Valley East-West Transit Corridor Major Investment Study and Environmental Impact Report for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority. As part of this assignment, Gruen Associates prepared the conceptual design for the entire 14-mile Bus Rapid Transit Corridor, bike path, and pedestrian linkages (now called the Metro Orange Line). The project won a 2007 American Institute of Architects Transportation Award, 2006 California Transportation Foundation Tranny Award for Transit Excellence, 2003 Rail-Trail Design Recognition Award, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and ASLA, and 2000 APA Focused Issue Planning Award, Los Angeles Section. The Metro Orange Line's Grand Opening was in October 2005

The Robert E. Coyle United States Courthouse in Fresno, California was honored by the United States General Services Administration with an 2006 Honor Award. It has also received a 2006 Design Award by the Precast Concrete Institute and with the 6th Annual Construction and Demolition Waste Management Awards- "Large Projects in Process" from the GSA National Office (2004-05).

A multi-disciplinary team including Gruen Associates received a 2006 Inland Empire Section Award from the American Planning Association, Los Angeles Section for the E Street Transit Corridor Regionally Significant Transportation Investment Study.

Gruen Associates received a 2005-06 Architectural design Award from the Beverly Hills Architectural Commission for De Beers Beverly Hills.

Gruen Associates received a 2005-06 Architectural design Award from the Beverly Hills Architectural Commission for Harry Winston Beverly Hills.

Gruen Associates received the 2005 Civic Award from the Los Angeles Business Council for the Hollywood Bowl renovation project.

Gruen Associates received the 2004 AIA Presidential Award, Project Team of the Year, for the Los Angeles to Pasadena Metro Gold Line Project.

Gruen Associates received the Southern California Development Forum's 2003 Community Enhancement Award for the Center for Early Education in Los Angeles.

Gruen Associates received the 2003 Focused Issue Planning Award for the Orange County Transportation Authority's Bus Rapid Transit Station Plan from the American Planning Association Orange County Section.

A Gruen Associates designed project, Foley Federal Building and United States Courthouse, was selected by the AIA Committee on Architecture for Justice for inclusion in the 2002-2003 Justice Facilities Review.
